Medical office park under construction in Southwest Roanoke County

A new medical office building is under construction in Southwest Roanoke County.

The $4 million Titan Park project, located on Pleasant Hill Drive, is slated to be complete by the end of May, according to property owner Kenny Gusler with 1st Choice Real Estate Appraisers.

The building will offer 4,000 square feet on each of its two floors and will house five offices.

Becker’s lauds Carilion’s Murphy as physician leader

Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized Ed Murphy, Carilion Clinic’s president and chief executive officer, as one of the top physician leaders in the country. Murphy, a graduate of Harvard Medical School, became the chief executive officer of Carilion Health Systems in 2001. He oversees eight hospitals and a 500-physician multispecialty group practice. He is a professor of medicine at the newly organized Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Murphy is the only Virginia physician executive on the list of 30 health care leaders. The Hospital Review magazine is distributed to more than 10,000 health care leaders.

Dr. Yunbo Li, professor of pharmacology at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been awarded a National Institutes of Health grant to investigate the molecular signaling pathways that typically lead to heart attacks, and to develop new drugs to prevent heart disease.  


The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine has named Saleem Ahmed as an assistant professor who will manage and deliver the anatomy curriculum at the new medical school.
